The story
Devon Tarby built this at Honeycut in Los Angeles in the 2010s, landing on mezcal's smoke plus Aperol's bitter orange as a lighter, brighter answer to all the heavier mezcal cocktails bartenders were leaning on at the time. It reads like a low-key, smoky cousin of the Naked and Famous, built for sipping rather than nightcapping.
