The story

This one is deceptively strong for how soft and fruity it tastes, three equal, punchy pours with no citrus or sugar to cut them. Old-school bartenders liked to warn newcomers about it, which is probably half the reason it never went away.

Quick answers

Angel Face questions

How do you make a Angel Face?

Combine all three spirits in a shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Serve with no garnish, or a thin apple slice. You need 20 ml (0.75 oz) gin, 20 ml (0.75 oz) apricot brandy and 20 ml (0.75 oz) Calvados.

What's in a Angel Face?

Gin, apricot brandy and Calvados, garnished with apple slice (optional).

Is a Angel Face shaken or stirred?

Shaken. Shaking chills, dilutes and aerates the citrus or cream.

What glass is a Angel Face served in?

A coupe, with no ice.

How strong is a Angel Face?

About 24% ABV once it is diluted, about as strong as a glass of fortified wine.
