The story
Michael McIlroy built this at Milk & Honey in 2005, naming it for the Brooklyn neighborhood just over the bridge from the Red Hook it shares a bar lineage with. Yellow Chartreuse's honeyed spice does what sweet vermouth usually does in a Manhattan, while a splash of actual vermouth keeps it from turning cloying.

Greenpoint questions
How do you make a Greenpoint?
Add rye, yellow Chartreuse, sweet vermouth and both bitters to a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Twist a lemon peel over the top. You need 60 ml (2 oz) rye whiskey, 15 ml (0.5 oz) yellow Chartreuse, 15 ml (0.5 oz) sweet vermouth, 2 dashes Angostura bitters and 2 dashes orange bitters.
What's in a Greenpoint?
Rye whiskey, yellow Chartreuse, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters and orange bitters, garnished with lemon twist.
Is a Greenpoint shaken or stirred?
Stirred. It is all spirit, so stirring keeps it silky and clear.
What glass is a Greenpoint served in?
A coupe, with no ice.
How strong is a Greenpoint?
About 28% ABV once it is diluted, so it is a strong, spirit-forward drink.
